Sunset, LA – In a commendable effort to support struggling residents, St. Landry Parish has launched a program aimed at helping those facing financial hardships. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is set to provide crucial aid to individuals who need help paying their energy bills.
On June 3, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., residents of Sunset can sign up for LIHEAP at the Sunset Community Center. To qualify, applicants must present their driver’s license and a utility bill that matches their address. The recent storms have left many in dire straits, making this program a timely and much-needed resource.
The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with LIHEAP covering the utility bills of the first 20 applicants. However, this isn’t a one-time opportunity; the parish ensures that residents will have additional chances to access the program throughout the year.
St. Landry Parish extends its commitment to assisting its residents, ensuring that no one faces energy insecurity alone. Other parts of the parish will also have similar opportunities, reinforcing the community’s dedication to supporting those in need.
