The Bridge Mentoring & Tutoring Program at Holy Family Catholic School launched on September 9th and is already serving 114 students from kindergarten to sixth grade. This initiative is more than just education; it is a ministry dedicated to empowering children spiritually and academically. As Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” One of the program’s mentors, Amiree, a graduate of HFCS, returned to give back to the school that nurtured her faith, eager to see the next generation thrive.
Generosity Fueling Change: Stuller Foundation’s Matching Grant
In an exciting development, the program has received a $42,500 matching grant from the Stuller Foundation. This grant offers a powerful opportunity for the community to double its impact. Every dollar donated will be matched, directly supporting after-school tutoring and mentoring programs. As 2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “God loves a cheerful giver,” and this is a chance for us to give generously, knowing the incredible impact it will have on the lives of children and families in the community.
New Leadership and Community Vision
We are also thrilled to welcome Vernon Jenkins and Elizabeth O’Roark Hesterly to The Bridge’s Board of Directors. Their experience and dedication to community service and ministry align with the mission to uplift and support local families. Both embody the command in Matthew 22:39, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” and bring new energy to the program’s future growth.
A Community Celebration: Autumn at the Bridge
On October 19th, The Bridge will host “Autumn at the Bridge,” a family-friendly event filled with games, food, and music. This gathering celebrates the power of community and provides a chance to learn more about the program’s mission to transform lives through education and faith.
A Prayer for the Community
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the work You are doing through The Bridge Mentoring Program. Bless the children, mentors, and families involved, and guide the leaders and donors in their generosity. May Your grace be upon this ministry, and may it continue to flourish and impact lives for Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
