Back-to- School Reminders and a Prayer for a Smooth Start!

The halls will soon be buzzing with activity as the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) gears up for the new school year! Here’s a quick rundown of the schedule and some helpful reminders to ensure a smooth transition for students, parents, and teachers alike.

LPSS K-12 A/B Start Dates:

August 11th (A-Day): Students in grades K-12 with odd-numbered addresses will report to school.
August 12th (B-Day): Students in grades K-12 with even-numbered addresses will report to school.
August 15th: All K-12 students return for full attendance.

For Apartment Dwellings: Use your apartment number to determine your assigned day. For example, Apartment #4 attends with B-Days (even addresses), while Apartment #21 attends with A-Days (odd addresses).

For Addresses with Only Letters: Use a simple letter-to-number conversion (A=1, B=2, C=3, etc.) to determine your assigned day.

Pre-K Schedule:

August 15th & 16th: Girls Only August 17th & 18th: Boys Only
August 19th: All Pre-K students return for full attendance.

Back-to-School Reminders:

• School Supplies: Double-check your child’s supply list and ensure they have everything they need.
• Immunization Records: Verify that your child’s immunizations are up-to-date.
• Transportation: Review bus routes and pick-up/drop-off times, or confirm carpool arrangements.
• Lunch: Decide between a packed lunch or school lunch and ensure your child has lunch money if needed.
• Positive Attitude: Cultivate excitement for the new school year!
