Acadiana is currently under an excessive heat warning as temperatures soar to dangerous levels. The National Weather Service has issued an alert urging residents to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
“The sun shall not strike you by day nor the moon by night.” Psalm 121:6
Air Quality Concerns
In addition to the extreme heat, air quality has also become a concern due to the presence of haze. Residents with respiratory issues are advised to limit outdoor activities and take necessary precautions.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the sky above proclaims His handiwork.” Psalm 19:1
Staying Safe in Extreme Heat
To protect yourself from heat-related illnesses, it is crucial to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing. Check on elderly neighbors and family members, and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
A Call for Prayer
Let us pray for our community during this period of extreme heat. May God provide relief from the scorching temperatures and protect us from heat-related illnesses. Let us also pray for those who are most vulnerable to the heat, such as the elderly, homeless, and outdoor workers.
“The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” Psalm 145:9
