BREAUX BRIDGE, La. — Glenda’s Creole Kitchen is gaining national and international acclaim, putting Breaux Bridge and St. Martin Parish on the gastronomic map. Known for its mouthwatering specials like stuffed turkey wings, smothered okra, and shrimp stew, Glenda Broussard’s restaurant is becoming a culinary beacon. “The pins on our maps represent where our visitors come from,” Broussard shared. “We started with the United States map, but had to add a world map because we’ve had guests from all over.” This aligns with the Biblical principle of hospitality found in Hebrews 13:2, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”
A Taste of Heaven in Every Dish
At Glenda’s Creole Kitchen, each dish is crafted with care and tradition. Broussard’s shrimp stew, described as “tasting like Heaven,” is a crowd favorite. “We’re just browning the onions and preparing the roux,” Broussard explained. “Then we let the gravy cook down before adding the shrimp.” This homestyle approach reflects the Biblical emphasis on creating a welcoming atmosphere, as seen in Proverbs 15:17, “Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.”
Weekly Delights and Rotating Menus
Glenda’s Creole Kitchen offers a diverse menu that changes daily, featuring dishes from stuffed pork roast to crawfish étouffée. Each day brings a new culinary experience, ensuring a varied and rich dining experience. Sunday’s menu might include BBQ chicken and yams, while Friday could feature shrimp stew and catfish coubillon. This variety not only showcases culinary creativity but also mirrors the Biblical encouragement to enjoy the fruits of labor, as noted in Ecclesiastes 3:13, “That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.”
