Refills: Finding Strength in God’s Endless Supply

Life can feel like a well-oiled machine one moment, cruising along smoothly, and then suddenly hit a bump. Whether it’s challenges at work, difficulties in our relationships, or just feeling emotionally drained, we often find ourselves sputtering, like a car running out of gas. In these times, we may need a “refill”—a spiritual refueling that can only come from God.

Life Needs Refills, Just Like a Car

Imagine buying a brand-new car, driving it around for a few days, and enjoying how well it runs. But soon, it starts sputtering, slowing down, and eventually stops completely. When you take it back to the dealer, they remind you that the problem was simple: you ran out of gas. It turns out, cars need to be refueled regularly to keep running. Similarly, in our daily lives, we sometimes forget that our energy and spirit need a constant refill to keep going strong.

In our fast-paced world, we often neglect our spiritual needs, trying to push through each day without pausing to recharge. The apostle Paul, in Romans 15:13, encourages us to let God “fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Like the car that needs fuel to run, we need the Holy Spirit to empower us to live out God’s calling in our lives—whether in our marriages, at work, or in our community.

Refilling with the Holy Spirit

Just as a car needs regular gas refills, we need to continually seek God’s strength through the Holy Spirit. Life’s challenges and pressures can drain us, but through prayer and worship, we can invite God to fill us anew. When we do, He renews our joy, peace, and purpose.

A Prayer for Renewal

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your endless grace and provision. We recognize that we cannot do this life alone and ask for the refilling of Your Holy Spirit in our hearts. May we always seek Your strength in times of need and trust that You will empower us to be the people You’ve called us to be. Fill us with joy, peace, and hope, so that we can face each day with Your strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
