CAST NEWS — COMMUNITY STRONG TOGETHER
A recent social media post from Monique Blanco Boulet, Mayor-President of Lafayette Parish, highlighted what many across Acadiana are witnessing firsthand: coordinated, competent leadership is moving both Lafayette Parish and the City of Carencro forward in measurable, infrastructure-driven ways.

In her post, Mayor-President Boulet stated:
“Carencro continues to grow and thrive under the leadership of Mayor Charlotte Stemmans Clavier and Police Chief David Andersen.
I was able to spend time at the Carencro Police Department and the Emergency Operations Center. Then we were able to see the new sewer plant currently under construction. This new facility represents an all-in investment of roughly $45 million to increase Carencro treatment capacity and unlock growth for the city and parish for years to come.
Finally, we ended up on Cormier Road, which will be receiving roughly $1.5 million in investment to upgrade a gravel road to modern paved standards. This project will increase connectivity and travel, while adding options for families, workers, and commuters.”
Her remarks were not ceremonial — they were observational. They reflected active, on-site engagement and an acknowledgment of tangible progress underway in Carencro.
Infrastructure That Unlocks Long-Term Growth
New Carencro Sewer Treatment Facility (Approx. $45 Million Investment)
One of the most significant projects currently underway is the construction of a new sewer treatment facility representing approximately $45 million in total investment. This is not merely a utility upgrade — it is a growth catalyst.
Expanded wastewater treatment capacity:
Supports residential development Enables commercial and industrial expansion Strengthens environmental compliance Positions Carencro for sustainable, long-term growth
Without adequate treatment capacity, cities cannot responsibly expand. This project ensures Carencro is planning not just for today’s population — but for tomorrow’s opportunity.
Public Safety and Preparedness: Operational Readiness
Carencro Police Department & Emergency Operations Center

Mayor-President Boulet’s visit included time at the Carencro Police Department and the Emergency Operations Center, underscoring the role public safety and preparedness play in economic and community stability.
Under the leadership of Charlotte Stemmans Clavier and David Anderson, Carencro has emphasized:
Professionalized public safety operations Emergency readiness and coordination Community-oriented policing Strategic alignment between city and parish agencies
Safety is foundational. Growth without security is fragile. Carencro’s model reflects both.
Cormier Road Upgrade: Connectivity and Mobility
($1.5 Million Road Modernization Investment)
On Cormier Road, approximately $1.5 million is being invested to convert a gravel roadway into modern paved standards.
The impact is practical and immediate:
- Improved connectivity between neighborhoods
- Safer travel routes
- Enhanced commuter efficiency
- Expanded access for families and workers
Infrastructure is not abstract policy — it affects daily life. Roads determine how children get to school, how workers reach jobs, and how businesses access customers.
Leadership Alignment: Parish and City Working Together
What is especially notable is not simply the projects themselves — but the collaborative tone between parish and city leadership.
Mayor-President Boulet’s recognition of Carencro’s progress reflects a broader truth: when systems are functioning, when leadership is competent, and when progress is measurable, stability becomes an asset. There is wisdom in strengthening what already works well.
In Lafayette Parish and Carencro, current leadership appears aligned around:
- Responsible fiscal investment
- Long-term infrastructure planning
- Public safety modernization
- Growth that preserves community identity
This is the essence of Community Strong Together — not just a phrase, but a structural reality when leaders coordinate across jurisdictions and build upon existing strengths rather than disrupt effective systems.
Carencro is growing. Lafayette Parish is advancing. And through cooperation rather than competition, the region benefits as a whole.
A Prayer for Our Leaders and Our Community
Heavenly Father,
We lift up Mayor-President Monique Blanco Boulet, Mayor Charlotte Stemmans Clavier, and Chief David Anderson. Grant them clarity in decision-making, steadiness in leadership, and humility in service. Strengthen their resolve as they oversee projects that shape the future of our cities and parish.
Bless the workers building the sewer facility, paving the roads, and protecting our neighborhoods. Protect our first responders and guide every plan made within our Emergency Operations Centers.
For Carencro and all of Lafayette Parish, we pray for unity, wise stewardship, continued growth, and peace. May our communities remain safe, connected, and prosperous. May we truly live out the calling to be Community Strong Together.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
