Acadiana Celebrates Faith-Driven Leadership
LAFAYETTE, La. — CAST NEWS Christian News Networks reports that Amber Dominque Bessard, an Abbeville native and founder of Train with Amber Fitness and Festival de Fit, has been named one of the Top 20 Under 40 Acadiana Leadership Award honorees. The recognition, presented in partnership with The Acadiana Advocate and sponsored by Advancial Federal Credit Union, celebrates young professionals making a lasting impact across the region. Honorees will be recognized April 10 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Student Union Ballroom.
For Bessard, the honor is not simply about business success, but about living out her calling to serve others through wellness and encouragement.
Building a Platform with Purpose
Bessard describes her greatest achievement as building a wellness platform rooted in inspiration, consistency, and genuine care for people. Through personal training, corporate wellness initiatives, youth programming, and community events, she strives to meet individuals where they are — guiding them toward healthier, more intentional lives.
Her work reflects 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, which reminds believers that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. “Everything I do is guided by the belief that caring for the body is an act of self-respect and love for the community,” Bessard shared.
From one-on-one coaching sessions to broader educational outreach, her approach emphasizes sustainability over quick results. She encourages habits that strengthen not only physical health but also confidence and long-term vitality.
Festival de Fit: Wellness as Celebration
One of the most visible expressions of her mission is Festival de Fit Fête, a recurring downtown fitness and wellness series that has grown into a large-scale community celebration. Designed to make wellness fun, accessible, and inclusive, the festival brings together movement, education, local businesses, and cultural connection.
In a region known for vibrant gatherings and rich heritage, Bessard has found a way to weave health into the celebration. Hebrews 10:24 encourages believers to “consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” Festival de Fit does just that — creating space for families, friends, and neighbors to pursue healthier lifestyles together.
More Than a Workout
Though her business has expanded into corporate and community programming, Bessard says the most meaningful moments often happen in the quiet conversations during training sessions. She affectionately calls her clients her “FitFam,” noting that their time together frequently goes beyond exercise routines.
“I get to hear about doctor visits where reports are improving, about renewed energy and hope,” she said. “It’s not just about weight loss — it’s about life change.”
Proverbs 17:22 declares, “A joyful heart is good medicine.” Bessard witnesses this truth daily as clients grow stronger physically and emotionally. Many share how improved health has positively influenced their families and workplaces, multiplying the impact far beyond the gym walls.
Leading with Love and Intention
Bessard credits her joy in the work to its deeper purpose. “I get to lead with love and serve in a way that aligns with my purpose,” she explained. By simplifying wellness into manageable, everyday choices, she replaces fear and intimidation with confidence and hope.
Her leadership stands as a reminder that influence is not measured solely by titles or revenue, but by lives strengthened and communities uplifted. In honoring Amber Dominque Bessard, Acadiana celebrates a model of servant leadership grounded in faith and compassion.
