In Iberia Parish, a new chapter of economic growth is being written as federal funding is used to construct a new hangar at the local airport. This project, supported by the bipartisan infrastructure bill signed by President Biden in 2021, is set to house the expansion of Aviation Exteriors, a move expected to bring over 200 new jobs to the community.
Federal Support for Local Growth
The $2 million in funding allocated for the hangar comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), a significant piece of legislation designed to rebuild and modernize America’s infrastructure. U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, a key architect of the bill, emphasized that the investment in Iberia Parish is part of a broader effort to help rural areas thrive. “Our cities can take care of themselves,” Cassidy noted, “but it is our rural areas that sometimes have the hardest time.” This initiative reflects the wisdom in Proverbs 11:14, “Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.”
Job Creation and Community Impact
The new hangar at Iberia Parish Airport will not only accommodate Aviation Exteriors’ expansion but will also create opportunities for local residents. The project includes training programs at South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) in New Iberia, ensuring that the workforce is prepared to fill these new roles. Iberia Parish Councilman Marcus Broussard expressed his excitement, seeing this as a vital step in retaining local talent and fostering community growth. This development echoes the message of Jeremiah 29:7, “But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”
A Prayer for the Community
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the blessings of progress and growth that are being brought to Iberia Parish. We pray for those who will benefit from the new jobs and opportunities, asking that You guide them in their work and bless this community with prosperity. May this project bring unity and hope to all who are involved, and may it serve as a beacon of Your provision and grace. We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
