A Concerning Statistic
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a staggering 46% of car seats are installed incorrectly. The National Safety Council (NSC) takes this figure even further, estimating that a disheartening 60% of car seats are used improperly. These statistics highlight the urgent need for proper car seat installation and education.
A Community Effort for Child Safety
To address this pressing issue, Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital is hosting a free car seat safety check event. This valuable opportunity will provide parents and caregivers with expert guidance and hands-on assistance to ensure their child’s car seat is installed correctly.
Event Details
- Date: Saturday, December 7th
- Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- Location: Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital, 136 Hospital Drive, Lafayette, LA (Parking lot by the Neuro-Science Building)
Certified child safety seat technicians will be on-site to:
- Inspect car seat installations
- Offer expert advice on car seat selection
- Provide guidance on proper car seat usage
