Helpful Neighbors Nonprofit Hosts Annual Citywide Easter Egg Hunt

Lafayette, LA – Community engagement and generosity take center stage as Helpful Neighbors Nonprofit gears up for its 25th Annual Citywide Easter Egg Hunt. This long-standing tradition, which has brought joy to countless children over the years, is set to take place on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Pa Davis Park, 120 Dawn Street, Lafayette, Louisiana.

Mr. James Parker, a representative of Helpful Neighbors Nonprofit, joined CAST News to discuss the event and the organization’s broader impact on the community.

A Tradition of Giving

For over 25 years, Helpful Neighbors have been dedicated to serving the community through various initiatives, from hurricane relief efforts and homeless outreach to mentoring programs and holiday celebrations. The City Wide Easter Egg Hunt remains a hallmark event, drawing families from across the city.

“This event is completely free and open to the public,” Parker emphasized. “We invite children from walkers to 12 years old, dividing them into two age groups for a fun and fair experience.” The schedule is as follows:

• 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Walkers to 5 years old and special needs individuals
• 2:00 PM- 5:00 PM: 6 years old to 12 years old

The event promises games, activities, and exciting prizes, including bicycles as grand prizes. “We want every child to leave with something,” Parker added. “For some kids, this might be the only Easter basket they receive, and we want to make it special.”

A Community Effort

Helpful Neighbors thrives on community support. Parker highlighted the role of local sponsors, such as Brookshire Grocery, Zander Smith, and local tax professionals, in making these events possible. “It takes the entire community to create moments like this,” he said.

Beyond Easter, Helpful Neighbors hosts mentorship programs for students, a Back-to-School Movie Night, homeless assistance initiatives, and a holiday door-decorating contest for senior living communities. The organization also participates in Trunk or Treat events and plans veteran support initiatives.
