In a heartfelt interview on SoulFull Conversations with CAST NEWS, host Tasha Senegal welcomed D’Audrea Smith, the inspiring founder of Girl Empowerment, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering young girls through confidence-building and faith-based mentorship.
Smith, driven by her own struggles with self-worth and the memory of her late mother’s unwavering support, launched Girl Empowerment to be a safe, nurturing space for girls who may not have anyone pouring into them. “My mom poured into me,” Smith shared. “Some girls don’t have that. I wanted to be that for them.”
Since its founding, Smith has hosted numerous free workshops, most held at local libraries to eliminate financial barriers. Through monthly events, she’s witnessed girls grow from shy and withdrawn to confident and vibrant, including one senior who overcame depression and now thrives in her identity.
The next big event, Flourish Brunch, will be held on June 21 for girls ages 7 to 18. It promises an elegant, fun, and empowering environment featuring guest speakers like mental health specialist La’Tasha Adams, worship leader Kaitlyn Floyd, and Prophetess Tameka Caldwell. With a $10 early bird ticket that includes brunch and a gift bag, the brunch offers an affordable opportunity for enrichment. Smith is also calling on the community to sponsor girls who may not be able to afford to attend.
Girl Empowerment’s mission goes beyond one-time events. Smith emphasized the importance of sisterhood, shared experiences, and building lasting friendships among attendees. She continues to plan future workshops and small group sessions to further uplift young women, including her upcoming “Becoming Her” event.

As Smith passionately stated, “If God’s called you to a place, He’ll make a way for you to get there. I believe that firmly.”
