Faith Meets Talent on National Stage
On July 8, 15 young girls from New Orleans took the stage of America’s Got Talent and left the audience in awe. Eyrie Dance and Tumbling, better known as EDT, delivered a breathtaking performance filled with gravity-defying flips and dazzling death drops. The group’s electrifying routine to Ciara’s “Level Up” and Bruno Mars’ “APT” brought the judges to their feet in a standing ovation. Judge Simon Cowell praised them, saying, “That is one of those auditions… that’s as good as it’s going to get.”
This story reminds us of 1 Corinthians 10:31: “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” EDT’s performance was not only a display of technical skill but a testament to the glory that can come from dedication and community support.
From Vision to Victory: Coach Eyrie’s Journey
Behind EDT is coach Eyrie Toliver, whose own story is as inspiring as her students’. A former med student turned dance mentor, Toliver started offering dance clinics during the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as a part-time effort turned into a full-time passion, now serving 130 students. Her pivot reminds us of Proverbs 16:9: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
A Prayer for the Journey Ahead
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the joy and excellence shown by the EDT dance team. May their courage inspire others to follow their dreams with faith and hard work. Bless their coach, their families, and all who support them. Guide them as they advance in this competition, and let Your light shine through their gifts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
