A Lemonade Stand with a Heavenly Purpose
On a warm Friday in Opelousas, Louisiana, the sweet aroma of lemonade filled the air at St. Landry Lumber Company—not just the scent of summer, but the spirit of compassion. Annalyse and her younger brother Lucas, grandchildren of the store’s owner, turned a simple idea into a powerful act of giving. With the help of friends and customers, their lemonade stand raised over $2,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“And a little child shall lead them” (Isaiah 11:6)
What began as a child’s mission to help others blossomed into a community-wide expression of love. Annalyse, speaking from the heart, shared, “I hope this can give them the best care that they can have and that they can stay healthy.” Her words reflect the compassion of Christ, who said, “Let the little children come to me… for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14).
Faith in Action: The Power of Giving
The generosity shown at the lemonade stand is a reminder that age does not limit impact. In Proverbs 11:25, we are reminded, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Through their efforts, these children offered more than a refreshing drink—they offered hope. The support from community members proves that small acts, when rooted in love, echo eternal truths.
A Prayer for the Community and the Children of St. Jude
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the hearts of Annalyse, Lucas, and their friends. Bless their generosity and multiply its impact for the children and families of St. Jude. Comfort those facing illness, strengthen their caregivers, and unite our community in love and service. May we continue to walk in Your light and give freely as You have given to us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
