District Play Brings Fresh Opportunities
ACADIANA, La. — As high school football enters Week 4, teams across Acadiana are stepping into a season-defining stretch. With district play beginning, several programs find themselves with opportunities to reset and rise. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord in Jeremiah 29:11, reminding us that even in sports, there is purpose in every trial and every triumph. Teams like Acadiana, Carencro, and St. Thomas More—who faced some of Louisiana’s toughest competition early—are now looking to turn their seasons around.
Stories of Perseverance and Renewal
Delcambre Panthers, guided by first-year coach Cory Brodie and powered by standout rusher Hugo Morales, look to break barriers not crossed since 2009. Meanwhile, North Central Hurricanes have stunned many with their first-ever 3-0 start, a testimony that perseverance and dedication bear fruit in due season (Galatians 6:9). Their upcoming test against St. Edmund (3-0) will measure just how strong this breakthrough can become.
Faith After Long Struggles
Comeaux Spartans are another story of resilience. After a 33-game losing streak, Coach Marquis Newsome’s squad, led by leading rusher Jaden Celestine, is chasing its third straight victory. Just as Romans 5:3-4 teaches that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance character, and character hope, the Spartans now embody that hope on the field.
Hidden Gems Shine Brightly
Other inspiring matchups include Notre Dame’s rematch with Catholic High of New Iberia, Kaplan’s early success under new coach John Thompson, and Westminster’s battle with Catholic of Pointe Coupee in a clash of unbeaten teams. These contests highlight the beauty of competition, unity, and faith-driven determination.
A Prayer for Acadiana Football
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of sports and the lessons they teach in perseverance, humility, and teamwork. We lift up the student-athletes, coaches, and communities of Acadiana. Protect the players from harm, bless their efforts, and may their character reflect Your glory both on and off the field. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
