LAFAYETTE, La. – For the first time since 2017, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns will open their Sun Belt Conference schedule at home, hosting Marshall this Saturday night at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Ragin’ Cajuns Sports Radio Network.
A Season of Challenges and Opportunities
The Cajuns (1-3) enter the game hungry for victory after a hard-fought 34-31 loss to Eastern Michigan. Despite setbacks, quarterback Daniel Beale recorded his best performance yet, passing for 222 yards and leading an offense that posted 441 total yards. Running backs Zylan Perry and Bill Davis also shined, combining for over 150 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Scripture reminds us, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).
Facing a Formidable Opponent
Marshall (2-2), under first-year head coach Tony Gibson, has gained momentum with back-to-back wins, most recently defeating Middle Tennessee 42-28. Transfer quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson threw for 261 yards and four touchdowns in that game, while three Thundering Herd rushers each surpassed 100 yards on the season. The Cajuns know they must be steadfast, leaning on their preparation and faith, much like Paul’s encouragement: “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
Faith, Family, and Football
Saturday’s game is not just about competition, but about community. Football in Louisiana has long been a gathering point where families and friends come together, reminding us of the unity found in Christ. “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1).
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we lift up the players, coaches, and fans of both Louisiana and Marshall. Grant safety, strength, and good sportsmanship. May this game bring joy to the community and remind us of the greater victory we have in Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
