Louisiana Residents Urged to Save Emergency Contact Numbers

Preparedness in Times of Crisis
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, much of Louisiana and Mississippi were shaken when 911 services went down across the states. This unexpected outage left many wondering who to call in times of danger. While some agencies posted emergency contact information on social media, many families still found themselves unprepared. God’s Word reminds us in Proverbs 27:12: “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.” Preparation is not fear—it is wisdom.

Why Storing Numbers Matters
During the outage, many residents realized the importance of having direct numbers for police, fire, and EMT services saved in their phones. Searching for help in the middle of an emergency could mean the difference between life and death. In 1 Corinthians 14:40, we are reminded that “everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.” Having contacts ready ensures order in times of chaos.

Essential Numbers for Lafayette Residents
Here are some key numbers Louisiana residents should add to their contacts today:

  • Louisiana State Police: (337) 262-5880
  • Acadian Ambulance: 1-469-513-6577
  • Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office: (337) 231-6362
  • Lafayette Police Department: (337) 291-8600
  • Lafayette Fire Department: (337) 232-1400

If you live outside Lafayette Parish, look up and save the emergency numbers for your area. Parents are also encouraged to add these contacts to their children’s phones if they have them.

Trusting God While Taking Action
While we pray that 911 services will never fail again, it is wise to be ready. Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” We can rest in His protection while also doing our part to prepare.

Prayer for Our Communities
Heavenly Father, we lift up Louisiana, Mississippi, and every community that relies on emergency services. Grant wisdom to officials, protection to families, and peace in times of crisis. Help us prepare with diligence while trusting You as our ultimate refuge. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
