Broussard Shines the Light of Christ at Annual “Noël à Broussard” Celebration

A Community Gathers to Celebrate the Season of Hope
Broussard, Louisiana, ushered in the Christmas season with joy, unity, and the spirit of Christ during its annual “Noël à Broussard” celebration held in the heart of downtown. Families from across Acadiana filled the streets on Saturday to enjoy a day of fellowship that included a festive parade, drone show, and a vibrant local marketplace. As Scripture reminds us, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity” (Psalm 133:1). That spirit of unity was on full display as the community came together to shine a light in this season of giving and gratitude.

A Parade Led by a Child of Courage and Purpose
This year’s parade featured 67 floats, representing businesses, churches, and civic groups from all corners of Broussard. But the true highlight of the procession was the grand marshal, 4½-year-old Zoe Morrow, a cherished Broussard resident living with cerebral palsy. Adopted by Ryan and Ashley Morrow in 2018, Zoe has become a beacon of courage and joy, reminding many of the biblical truth found in Jeremiah 29:11—“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you hope and a future.”

When the Morrows initially requested a float sponsor, they did not expect Zoe to be chosen as grand marshal. “It was definitely a bonus,” said her father, Ryan. “It’s important for people to see kids with disabilities living good lives and participating.” Zoe’s mother, Ashley, echoed that message, sharing how their family prioritizes full inclusion in everyday activities. Though parenting a child with cerebral palsy presents challenges, Ashley explained, “We don’t shy away from doing things with her… she gets to participate in everything we do.”

A Testament to Strength, Joy, and God’s Purpose
Zoe’s determination continues to inspire many throughout Broussard. Katie Harris, Community Engagement Director for the Chamber of Commerce, celebrated Zoe’s impact in a recent statement: “She loves advocating for individuals with disabilities… Zoe embraces her CP as part of who she is and uses her voice to encourage others.” Her resilience reflects the scriptural truth of Psalm 139:14—“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Zoe’s story serves as a reminder that God equips each of His children with unique gifts and purpose, no matter the challenges they face.

A Night Filled With Light, Joy, and Community Spirit
As evening settled in, families gathered for the lighting of the community Christmas tree, brought to life by the beloved “Golf Cart Santa” group. Laughter and anticipation filled the air as children watched the lights spark to life—a beautiful symbol of Christ, the Light of the World (John 8:12). The night concluded with a breathtaking Christmas-themed drone show, the first of its kind in Acadiana, coloring the sky with reminders of hope and celebration.

Mayor Ray Bourque expressed gratitude for the unity displayed throughout the day. “It’s a great pleasure to put on free family events like this,” he said, recognizing the dedication of all who contributed to making Noël à Broussard a blessing to the community.

A Prayer for Broussard and All Who Celebrated
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the joy and unity poured out over Broussard during this year’s celebration. We lift up young Zoe and her family, asking for Your continued strength, peace, and purpose over their lives. Bless every child, every family, and every business that took part in this event. May this season remind us of the hope found only in Jesus Christ, and may Your light continue to shine brightly in the Broussard community.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
