Cody Champagne of Breaux Bridge reeled in a remarkable 10.07-pound bass on February 14, 2026, while fishing on Toledo Bend Lake. The trophy fish was officially weighed at Living the Dream on Toledo Bend, qualifying as Lunker number 25 for the 2025–2026 season.
For Champagne, the catch represents more than just a personal milestone—it reflects patience, perseverance, and respect for God’s creation.
A LUNKER WITH PURPOSE
Champagne’s bass qualifies under the guidelines set by the Toledo Bend Lake Association (TBLA), which oversees the well-known Lunker Program. To earn a fiberglass replica of their catch, anglers must present a bass weighing 10 pounds or more, have it officially weighed, measured, tagged, and then released alive back into the lake.
The program is designed not only to reward anglers but also to encourage conservation by ensuring trophy fish are returned safely to the waters. Champagne will receive a replica of his 10.07-pound bass in recognition of his achievement and commitment to preserving the fishery.
