CARENCRO, La. — A beloved Youngsville restaurant known for its homestyle cooking and family-centered values is preparing to bring its signature hospitality to a second Lafayette Parish community. KK’s Café will soon open a new location in the former Pizza Amore building at 3730 NE Evangeline Thruway in Carencro, offering residents a welcoming place to gather around the table and enjoy fresh, home-cooked meals.
The expansion marks an exciting new chapter for owners Lee and Wendy Oubre, who purchased KK’s Café seven years ago. While they retained the restaurant’s original name and menu, the couple gradually introduced their own family recipes and cooking style, creating a dining experience that has earned a loyal following throughout Acadiana.
“We purchased the business seven years ago. We kept the name and the menu, and then we slowly started redoing the recipes to our recipes, cooking the food the way we would’ve cooked the food and added to the menu,” Lee Oubre shared. Today, the café is truly a family operation, with Lee, Wendy, their three children, an oldest grandson, and several extended family members working together to serve customers.
Building a Business on Family Values
KK’s Café has become well known for serving breakfast favorites, hearty Cajun meals, fresh seafood, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and homemade bakery items, especially its highly praised cheesecakes. From homemade biscuits with sausage gravy and crawfish étouffée biscuits to shrimp and grits, po-boys, seafood platters, and fresh salads, the menu reflects the rich culinary traditions that make Acadiana unique.
Beyond the food, the café represents something even more meaningful—a business built on family, hard work, and serving others with excellence. Colossians 3:23 reminds believers, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” That spirit of dedication is evident in the Oubre family’s commitment to providing quality meals and genuine hospitality to every guest who walks through the door.
A Blessing for the Carencro Community
While many businesses choose Youngsville because of its rapid growth, it is far less common to see a successful Youngsville business expand into Carencro. The arrival of KK’s Café brings new dining opportunities to residents seeking fresh sandwiches, hearty breakfasts, lighter lunch options, and classic Southern comfort food closer to home.
The new location occupies the space formerly home to Pizza Amore, whose owners chose to pass the torch to another locally owned business after several successful years. Their decision reflects the strength of Acadiana’s entrepreneurial community, where local businesses continue supporting one another and investing in the region’s future.
As families prepare for the new school year, KK’s Café hopes to welcome customers before summer comes to a close. The opening is expected to provide not only delicious meals but also new employment opportunities and another gathering place where neighbors can connect over food and fellowship.
Growing Through Faith and Service
Scripture reminds us that God blesses faithful labor. Psalm 90:17 declares, “And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us.” Businesses like KK’s Café demonstrate how faith, perseverance, and a heart for serving others can create lasting blessings within a community.
Whether customers stop in for breakfast before work, lunch with friends, or dinner with family, the new Carencro location promises to continue the tradition of warm hospitality that has made KK’s Café a favorite in Youngsville. In a world that often moves too fast, gathering around a table remains one of God’s simplest and greatest gifts—a place where relationships are strengthened, stories are shared, and community flourishes.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for blessing our communities with hardworking families and locally owned businesses that serve others with integrity and kindness. We pray for Lee and Wendy Oubre, their family, and every employee of KK’s Café as they begin this new chapter in Carencro. Grant them wisdom, favor, and continued success as they serve their customers with excellence. Bless the former owners of Pizza Amore and all local businesses that help strengthen Acadiana. May this new restaurant become a place where friendships grow, families gather, and Your love is reflected through hospitality and service. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
