Lafayette’s LA Krewe Rush Makes Louisiana Soccer History with National Championship Victory

LAFAYETTE, La. — A group of talented young athletes from Acadiana has made history on the national stage, bringing home more than just a championship trophy—they have inspired an entire community. The LA Krewe Rush 11 Boys ECNL Team has become the first boys club soccer team from Louisiana to win a national tournament, marking a milestone not only for the club but also for the growing soccer community in Lafayette.

Following their remarkable achievement, the team was honored by city leaders with a special day of recognition, celebrating the players, coaches, and families whose hard work and dedication helped make history. The accomplishment shines as a testament to what can happen when talent, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance come together with a shared purpose.

Victory Built on Teamwork and Dedication

Head Coach Munir Poca reflected on the significance of the championship, emphasizing that the victory belongs to more than just the players on the field.

“It’s great, not only for the boys, for the club and obviously for Lafayette as a city that’s been growing for soccer,” Poca said. “This is the first time a boys team has won a national tournament from Louisiana. So coming from Lafayette, it’s even a special feeling.”

For years, soccer has continued to gain momentum throughout Acadiana, with families investing countless hours supporting young athletes through practices, tournaments, and competitions. This historic win demonstrates that dedication and consistent effort can elevate local talent to the highest levels of competition.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.” The success of LA Krewe Rush reflects the biblical truth that great accomplishments are often the result of people working together toward a common goal.

Using God-Given Talents

Goalkeeper Pierce Perret described the city’s recognition as an unforgettable experience.

“It’s kind of incomprehensible to just realize that just for winning a couple of soccer games you can get recognized for your own day,” Perret said. “It’s really our team just works together so well and we just have these great opportunities to showcase our talents.”

Those talents did not develop overnight. Behind every victory are early morning practices, late-night training sessions, supportive parents, dedicated coaches, and teammates who continually encourage one another to improve.

Scripture teaches in Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Whether on a soccer field, in a classroom, or at work, believers are called to pursue excellence while remaining humble and grateful for the abilities God has given them.

A Win That Inspires a Community

The championship represents more than a title—it serves as inspiration for young athletes across Louisiana who dream of competing at the highest level. It proves that remarkable achievements are possible regardless of where a team begins, and that perseverance can open doors once thought unreachable.

As Lafayette’s soccer community continues to grow, this historic accomplishment will likely encourage more children to participate in the sport, build lifelong friendships, and develop character through teamwork and healthy competition.

Philippians 4:13 reminds believers, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” While success is measured by more than trophies, this championship reflects the rewards of perseverance, unity, discipline, and unwavering commitment. The LA Krewe Rush players have become role models for the next generation, showing that with faith, hard work, and teamwork, barriers can be broken and history can be made.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for blessing these young athletes with the opportunity to grow through sports, teamwork, and perseverance. We congratulate the LA Krewe Rush 11 Boys ECNL Team on this historic achievement and pray that they will continue to use their talents with humility, integrity, and gratitude. Bless their coaches, parents, and supporters who have invested so much into their success. May this victory inspire young people throughout Acadiana to pursue excellence while honoring You in all they do. Continue to strengthen our communities through positive role models, encouraging families and young athletes to work together, serve others, and glorify You with the gifts You have provided. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
