New Neighborhood Planned Near Maurice
LAFAYETTE PARISH, La. — Continued growth in Acadiana is taking shape as a Baton Rouge-based homebuilder prepares to develop dozens of new homes in the southwest corner of Lafayette Parish near Maurice. Level Homes recently acquired 67 residential lots for the first phase of Gray’s Landing, a new community located just off Johnston Street south of Willie May Lane.
The purchase marks another significant step in the ongoing expansion of residential development in the region. Community leaders and residents alike are watching as new neighborhoods emerge to meet the needs of families seeking places to live, grow, and build their futures.
For many, a home represents more than a structure. It is a place where families gather, children are raised, and faith is lived out daily. Psalm 127:1 reminds believers, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” As construction plans move forward, many see opportunities for families to establish strong foundations rooted in faith, love, and community.
Level Homes Expands Its Presence in Acadiana
According to company officials, Gray’s Landing will become the seventh project developed by Level Homes in the Lafayette area. However, it will be the first community in which the company serves as the sole builder, giving it complete oversight of the neighborhood’s design and development.
The lots were purchased from a group led by Lafayette builder Bailey Shivers. Company representatives say the project reflects their commitment to investing in the Acadiana region, where they have steadily expanded their presence over the years.
Operations Manager Lance Faucheaux expressed appreciation for the support the company has received from the Lafayette community and emphasized the importance of creating a neighborhood that reflects quality craftsmanship and thoughtful planning.
The development highlights the continued confidence builders have in the region’s future and its ability to attract families looking for a place to call home.
Housing Options for Families in Every Season of Life
Gray’s Landing is expected to feature 22 different home designs with prices ranging from approximately $260,000 to $450,000. Planned homes will range from 1,500 to 3,200 square feet, providing options for first-time homeowners, growing families, and those looking to downsize while remaining in the community.
The variety of home styles reflects the diverse needs of Acadiana residents. Whether welcoming a newborn child, caring for aging parents, or preparing for retirement, families often seek neighborhoods where they can thrive through every stage of life.
Proverbs 24:27 teaches, “Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house.” The verse serves as a reminder of the importance of planning wisely and building with purpose, principles that guide both families and developers as new communities take shape.
Growth Continues Across the Region
Gray’s Landing is only one example of the residential growth occurring throughout southern Lafayette Parish and neighboring Maurice. Nearby Milton could soon see construction begin on a proposed 180-lot development, while other projects continue to be considered throughout the area.
Although some developments have moved forward and others have been withdrawn, the ongoing interest in residential construction demonstrates confidence in Acadiana’s future. New neighborhoods bring opportunities for economic growth, stronger communities, and expanded resources for local families.
As development continues, many residents hope growth will be balanced with the values that have long defined Acadiana—faith, family, hospitality, and neighborly care.

We pray for wisdom for developers, builders, community leaders, and families making important decisions about their future homes. Bless those who will live in these new neighborhoods, and help them build households filled with love, faith, and unity. May these communities become places where neighbors support one another and where Your peace is present. Guide all future growth in a way that honors You and benefits generations to come. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
