A Journey Fueled by Creativity and Faith
What began as a young boy’s curiosity about cameras has grown into a thriving creative business, a strong social media presence, and even the opening of a wedding venue in Lafayette Parish. At just 23 years old, Cameron Theyard is proving that dedication, hard work, and a willingness to pursue God-given talents can lead to remarkable opportunities.
Today, Theyard has built a successful photography and videography business, gained a following of more than 15,000 people across social media platforms, and established himself as a respected entrepreneur in Acadiana. Yet his story began long before business licenses, wedding venues, and professional equipment entered the picture.
As a 12-year-old, Theyard discovered a passion for photography and video production after getting his first opportunity to use a camera and a laptop. What started as a creative hobby soon became something much more significant. He spent countless hours learning, experimenting, and recreating videos that inspired him.
His journey reflects the truth found in Psalm 90:17: “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.” Through perseverance and faith, a childhood interest began developing into a lifelong calling.
A Church Opportunity Opens Unexpected Doors
One of the defining moments in Theyard’s life came through his involvement in his church’s youth ministry. While serving and creating videos for church activities, he gained valuable experience and confidence in his abilities.
At just 14 years old, a couple from his church approached him with a surprising request: film their wedding. Despite not owning a camera himself, Theyard borrowed equipment from a friend and accepted the challenge.
The completed wedding video became the launching point for his career. After his mother shared the video on social media, word quickly spread, and new opportunities followed. What seemed like a simple church connection became the foundation for a growing business.
The experience serves as a reminder that God often uses unexpected opportunities to guide people toward their purpose. Proverbs 16:9 teaches, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Family Support Helped Build a Dream
As his business began to grow, Theyard quickly realized that success required more than creativity alone. He learned about entrepreneurship, business management, insurance, and the responsibilities that come with operating a professional company.
Throughout the journey, his parents remained among his strongest supporters. From driving him to weddings across Louisiana to encouraging him through challenges, their commitment helped him pursue opportunities while balancing school and personal responsibilities.
Their support reflects the importance of family encouragement in helping young people develop their gifts and pursue their dreams. Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds believers, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.”
Building Success Without Leaving Home
Like many young creatives, Theyard once believed he would need to leave Louisiana to achieve his goals. As a middle school student, he researched schools and career opportunities in other states, assuming success could only be found elsewhere.
Over time, however, he realized that Lafayette offered opportunities to grow professionally while remaining connected to the community he loved. Rather than relocating, he chose to invest his talents in Acadiana, helping local families preserve cherished memories through photography and videography.
His success demonstrates that meaningful careers can be built close to home and that communities thrive when talented young people choose to invest where they were raised.
Encouraging the Next Generation to Dream Big
Today, Theyard hopes his story will inspire other young people to pursue careers that align with their passions and talents. He encourages aspiring creatives to understand that opportunities exist beyond traditional career paths and that hard work can transform a passion into a profession.
The Bible teaches in 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers.” Through his achievements, Theyard is doing exactly that—showing young people that age does not have to limit purpose or potential.
As he continues building his business and serving his community, his journey stands as a testament to the power of perseverance, faith, family support, and the courage to follow a God-given dream.
