A Beautiful Afternoon of Fellowship and Giving
The Our Lady of Lourdes Foundation brought a refreshing twist to its annual fall fundraising tradition with the Sip Sip Soiree, held October 18 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Center. Under beautiful autumn skies, guests gathered to enjoy an afternoon of fellowship, food, music and charitable giving in support of healthcare outreach programs serving the Acadiana community.
Rather than the traditional nighttime gala, this year’s gathering invited attendees to stroll through the Alumni Center’s lovely outdoor spaces, sample special bites and cocktails, and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Outdoor music, food and beverage tents, and an auction area added to the occasion, creating an inviting setting for generosity and community connection.
From a Christian perspective, the event reflects the biblical call to care for our neighbors and extend compassion to those in need. Hebrews 13:16 reminds believers, “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased” (KJV). The Sip Sip Soiree offered guests an opportunity to turn an enjoyable afternoon into meaningful support for others.
Supporting Healthcare and Community Outreach
The fundraiser benefits community outreach programs supported by FMOL Health and the Our Lady of Lourdes Foundation. These initiatives provide important resources to individuals and families who may face medical, emotional or financial challenges.
Among the programs receiving support are the St. Bernadette Community Clinic, the Northside High School Clinic, the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital, the Child Life Program and the Palliative Care program.
Each initiative serves people at different stages of life and under different circumstances. From helping children and students access care to providing comfort for families navigating serious illness, these programs demonstrate how healthcare can extend beyond hospital walls and into the wider community.
Matthew 25:36 records Jesus’ words about visiting the sick, reminding Christians that caring for people in vulnerable circumstances is an essential expression of faith. Supporting programs that provide medical services, family assistance and compassionate care offers a practical way to live out that teaching.
A Different Tradition, a Shared Mission
The decision to move away from the customary evening gala created a relaxed, outdoor experience for attendees. With favorable weather and strong attendance, the afternoon offered a welcome opportunity for guests to connect while supporting causes that directly benefit the region.
Organizers reported that the event was a success, an encouraging outcome given the importance of the programs it supports. Although the setting differed from previous fundraising celebrations, the mission remained the same: helping provide resources for people who need care, comfort and assistance.
Second Corinthians 9:7 teaches that God loves a cheerful giver. The verse captures the spirit of an event where generosity and fellowship came together for a purpose greater than the gathering itself.
Faith in Action Across Acadiana
The Sip Sip Soiree serves as a reminder that communities grow stronger when individuals, organizations and healthcare providers work together to meet human needs. Charitable events like this can help sustain services that offer hope and support to patients and families during difficult seasons.
As autumn continues across Acadiana, the Our Lady of Lourdes Foundation’s fundraiser highlights the value of giving back and remembering those who depend on community support. The beautiful afternoon was more than a seasonal celebration; it was an opportunity to invest in compassion, dignity and the well-being of neighbors.
CAST NEWS Christian News Network celebrates the spirit of service demonstrated through this gathering and encourages communities to continue supporting organizations that care for those facing hardship.
A Prayer for the Community and Those Served
Heavenly Father, thank You for the generosity of everyone who supported the Sip Sip Soiree and for the dedicated people who serve through Our Lady of Lourdes and FMOL Health.
Lord, bless the St. Bernadette Community Clinic, the Northside High School Clinic, the Ronald McDonald Family Room, the Child Life Program and the Palliative Care program. Strengthen the healthcare professionals, volunteers and caregivers who bring comfort and healing to others.
We pray for patients facing illness, children receiving treatment, families carrying heavy burdens and individuals who struggle to access the care they need. Provide them with hope, peace and the support of compassionate people.
Bless the donors and community members who give their time and resources. May their generosity inspire others to serve, and may every act of kindness remind those in need that they are not forgotten.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
