Calling All Nutcracker Lovers: Free Workshop and Auditions Announced by Lafayette Ballet Theatre

The holiday season may still be months away, but excitement is already building in Lafayette as the Lafayette Ballet Theatre (LBT) prepares for its annual production of “The Nutcracker.” In anticipation of this beloved tradition, LBT is offering a unique opportunity for young dancers. On August 25th, LBT will host a free Nutcracker workshop, giving aspiring performers a chance to learn and hone their skills. This event is a wonderful gift to the community, reflecting the spirit of generosity and nurturing talent. As 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Nutcracker Auditions Set for September

Following the workshop, LBT will hold auditions for “The Nutcracker” on September 7th and 8th. This is an exciting chance for dancers to showcase their talent and be part of a production that has become a cherished holiday tradition in Lafayette. Mitzi Heath, the Director of Lafayette Ballet Theatre, encourages all interested dancers to attend both the workshop and auditions, regardless of experience level. The auditions are not just about selecting dancers but about fostering a love for the arts and building confidence. Colossians 3:23 encourages us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” This is a call for dancers to give their best effort, knowing that their dedication and passion are valued.
