LAFAYETTE, La. — A Lafayette designer’s journey from South Louisiana to one of fashion’s biggest stages is inspiring many across Acadiana and beyond. Designer Romey Roe, known professionally for his elegant and distinctive creations, recently walked the runway at New York Fashion Week alongside Miss America 2027 Regan Hutsell after she closed his latest fashion presentation wearing a custom-designed gown.

The show took place at Gotham Hall during The Bureau at New York Fashion Week, where Roe unveiled his newest collection, “Botanical Armor.” The presentation celebrated beauty, resilience, and the cycles of life, themes that resonated deeply with audiences and reflected the designer’s creative vision.

For many in Louisiana, the moment represented more than fashion. It was a testament to perseverance, faith, and the belief that God can open doors far beyond what one might imagine. The highlight of the presentation came when newly crowned Miss America 2027 Regan Hutsell took the runway in a custom Romey Roe gown. Hutsell, who was crowned Miss America on September 6 in West Palm Beach, Florida, wore a striking red design that served as the finale of the show.

According to Roe, the gown was created in only a few days after Hutsell explored several design options. The final selection stood out because it reflected both the elegance of the Miss America title and the signature identity of the Romey Roe brand. Featuring hand-beaded details and a timeless silhouette with modern structure, the gown embodied confidence and grace.

The collaboration marked another significant connection between Roe and the Miss America organization. He previously designed a custom gown for Miss America 2026 Cassie Donegan, further establishing his growing presence on the national stage.
