Lead Louisiana Brings Professional Mentorship to Lafayette

Empowering the Next Generation
Lafayette will host a transformative professional athletic mentorship program on January 17-18, presented by Lead Louisiana. This free event aims to guide middle and high school students, along with their parents, in developing leadership and life skills through interactive sessions with professional athletes. Rooted in the biblical principle, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6), this program seeks to inspire and equip youth for success.

A Weekend of Enrichment and Fun
Participants can look forward to engaging in activities like golfing, fishing, bowling, and hunting, as well as a visit to the Acadiana Mall. On Saturday, professional athletes will host a panel discussing conflict resolution, peer pressure, and practical life skills. Parents are invited to attend a special session to enhance their own role in nurturing their children. This initiative embodies the message of “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11), creating a supportive environment for families and youth alike.

Event Schedule and Activities

• Friday, January 17 (All Day): Golfing, fishing, bowling, hunting, and a visit to the Acadiana Mall.
• Saturday, January 18 (10 a.m.–2 p.m.): Panel discussions with professional athletes at Northside High School, with lunch provided.
• Saturday, January 18 (7 p.m.): Corporate Banquet at the Downtown Convention Center, 124 S. Buchanan Street, Lafayette.

Notable Athletes to Participate
The event will feature prominent figures like Dusty Baker, Ron Washington, Hollis Conway, and many others. These athletes exemplify resilience, determination, and success, serving as role models for the next generation.

Supporting the Community
This program not only benefits the youth but also supports the Children’s Museum of Acadiana, ensuring the facility’s mission to foster curiosity and learning continues.
