SoulFull Conversations: Pastor Carl Comeaux Shares His Journey of Faith, Healing, and Purpose

In a heartfelt edition of SoulFull Conversations, our outreach coordinator, Tasha Senegal, had the privilege of sitting down with Pastor Carl Comeaux, a man whose towering physical presence is only rivaled by the depth of his spiritual insight and unwavering faith. With warmth and candor, Pastor Comeaux opened up about his personal journey into ministry and the divine calling that shaped his path.

“When I was a kid,” Pastor Comeaux recalled, “my mom would always tell me, ‘Son, give it to God.’” Those simple words, planted in him at an early age, became a spiritual anchor throughout his life. Years later, that same faith would be what carried him through one of his most trying battles—his fight with cancer in 1998.

“It was those few words she gave me as a child that helped me overcome,” he said. “Give it to God. That gave me the faith to get through anything.”

Pastor Comeaux’s story is a powerful testament to the generational impact of faith. In a touching moment, he shared how, just before his mother passed away, he was able to reflect that faith back to her—a full-circle moment of divine reciprocity.

“That night before she went to be with the Lord, I got to remind her of what she’d instilled in me,” he said. “And I believe that brought her comfort.”

His calling into ministry came during his recovery from cancer. While undergoing physical therapy in a pool, Pastor Comeaux said he clearly heard God’s voice telling him to ask his pastor to ordain him as an evangelist.

“I literally stood up in the water,” he laughed. “The therapist must have thought I lost my mind.”

That moment of obedience led to his official ordination on September 1, 1998, through the Full Gospel Christian Association in Sheridan, Arkansas. Since then, his journey as a pastor has been anything but easy—but it has been deeply meaningful.

“There were times I wanted to quit,” he admitted, recalling a particularly difficult Sunday in 2018. “But the Lord wouldn’t let me. He said, ‘No, you don’t. Get back to work.’”

Through trials and temptations, Pastor Comeaux has held firmly to his calling, reminding himself of Jeremiah’s cry: “Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel.” Despite the spiritual warfare that often accompanies ministry, he remains resolute.

“I may be a two-bit preacher,” he once told the enemy in a moment of discouragement, “but I’m going to be a two-bit preacher for God.”

Pastor Comeaux also emphasized the importance of living with integrity, both publicly and privately. “What we do behind closed doors matters more than what we show the world,” he said. “Your heart has to stay pure when no one’s looking.”

From childhood lessons in faith to becoming a voice of hope for others, Pastor Comeaux’s life is a compelling story of grace, resilience, and divine purpose.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our SoulFull Conversations series, where we dive deeper into Pastor Comeaux’s work in the community and the future of his ministry.
