Two Men and a Truck Lafayette has officially launched its annual Movers for Moms campaign, rallying community support for local mothers in need. The campaign, which runs through May 11th, collects essential hygiene and household items to support Faith House of Acadiana, a nonprofit that shelters and uplifts women and children affected by domestic violence.
Lafayette General Manager Dakota Luquette shared, “It really does mean a lot, especially to people who are probably at one of the lowest points in their life.” This initiative echoes the biblical call to “defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed” (Psalm 82:3, NIV).
United for a Purpose: Local Businesses and Schools Join the Mission
Partnering with area schools, businesses, and organizations, the campaign has set up drop-off locations throughout Lafayette. Donations for the Movers for Moms campaign can be dropped off at several convenient locations across Lafayette. These include the Main, East, South, and West Regional Libraries, Garden View Assisted Living, The Highlands Apartments, Club4Fitness, The Covery Wellness Spa, ITA Truck & Trailer, Re/Max, Maison Bocage Apartments, and Clark’s Integrated Medical. In addition to these locations, other community partners will also serve as drop-off sites, making it easy for residents to participate and show their support.
Items being collected include essentials such as soap, toothpaste, shampoo, feminine hygiene products, and cleaning supplies. These basic necessities will offer dignity and comfort to those starting anew. As Proverbs 19:17 reminds us, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”
A Prayer for the Journey Ahead
Heavenly Father, we lift up the women and children affected by domestic violence. May they find peace, healing, and restoration through the hands and hearts of this community. Bless those who give and those who receive, and may this campaign be a reflection of Your love and provision. Guide Faith House, the volunteers, and every contributor with strength and compassion. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
