A Vision for Community Through Art
LAFAYETTE, La. – A new art supply shop and creative studio, Scrappie Art Shop and Community Studio, has opened its doors in the Hub City. Founded by local artists Raeleigh Boyd and Preslie Such, the space is designed to provide access to art supplies, workshops, and a hub where local artisans can sell their crafts. In Proverbs 11:25 we are reminded, “Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” This new venture seeks to enrich the community through the blessing of creativity.
Supporting Artists and Building Fellowship
The studio offers resources to help artists avoid the financial burden of purchasing costly equipment while encouraging them to explore new mediums. Beyond supplies, Scrappie provides workshops in ceramics, photography, cake decorating, printmaking, and more. Boyd and Such envision the space as one of fellowship, creativity, and collaboration—where people can learn, share, and grow together. As 1 Peter 4:10 says, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
Rooted in Louisiana, Reaching Out in Love
The name “Scrappie” reflects both Louisiana roots and the resilient, ambitious nature of artists. Inside, visitors will find unique art supplies, both new and reused, along with handcrafted goods from local artisans. The shop also supports artists financially, offering consignment opportunities with a generous 70-30 split in favor of the creators. This model embodies Acts 20:35: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Prayer for the Community
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gifts of creativity and community. We ask Your blessing over Scrappie Art Shop and all who enter its doors. May this space be filled with joy, inspiration, and encouragement. Let artists find strength, support, and friendship here, and may their talents bring light to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
