CCA Louisiana Leads Major Conservation Effort with Artificial Reef

COCODRIE, La. — The Coastal Conservation Association of Louisiana (CCA Louisiana) has successfully installed the Ship Shoal 33 Artificial Reef, south of Morgan City, creating nearly 8,000 square feet of new marine habitat. This project, accomplished in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and local organizations, exemplifies stewardship of God’s creation and commitment to preserving natural resources for the benefit of all.

Collaborative Efforts Reflect God’s Design

Through the deployment of 400 Wave Brush ExoForms™—locally called “Cajun Coral”—and 380 tons of broken concrete, the reef will foster diverse aquatic life and strengthen Louisiana’s coastal ecosystem. Executive Director Rad Trascher emphasized that the goal of CCA Louisiana is to “conserve, promote and enhance the present and future availability of our coastal resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public.” This dedication mirrors Genesis 2:15, which reminds us that God placed humanity in the Garden to “work it and take care of it,” calling all believers to care for the environment He created.

Partners in Preservation

Local companies—including Chevron, Natrx, Danos, White Water Contractors, and Duplantis Design Group—contributed equipment, expertise, and surveys to ensure the reef’s success. White Water Founder Scott Settoon noted the project strengthens recreational fishing opportunities and coastal habitat preservation, reflecting Proverbs 12:10: “The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.” Their collaborative work demonstrates the power of partnership in stewarding God’s resources.

A Prayer for Creation and Community

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the beauty and abundance of Your creation. Bless the waters and wildlife of Louisiana’s coast, and guide those who care for them with wisdom and diligence. May this project serve as a testament to responsible stewardship and inspire our community to honor You through the preservation of Your gifts. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
