CATAHOULA, La. — Country music star Jason Aldean got more than just a taste of Louisiana hospitality this week. Ahead of his Thursday night Cajundome concert, Aldean joined Gov. Jeff Landry and local bar owner Liz Higginbotham for a day of hunting, fellowship, and community at Red’s Levee Bar, a long-standing gathering place since 1952.
A Day in God’s Creation
Nestled near the Atchafalaya Basin, the group embarked on a gator hunt, a tradition deeply tied to Louisiana culture. Aldean harvested a 10-foot, 5-inch alligator, marking his first experience with the sport. Higginbotham, who organized the day, shared how the community came together to welcome the singer. “It was about more than the hunt—it was about friendship and time together,” she said. Scripture reminds us, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Faith and Fellowship in Small Places
Following the hunt, Aldean visited Red’s, where locals were surprised to see the country star behind the bar, chatting and laughing with the regulars. It was a reminder of the value of humility and connection. As Jesus said, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20). Even in a small bayou bar, the spirit of fellowship shone through.
Community and Gratitude
Aldean’s visit highlighted how God can use simple, everyday moments to strengthen bonds and bring joy. In a world often filled with division, this gathering in Catahoula was a testimony to unity, friendship, and faith.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for moments of fellowship that remind us of Your goodness. Bless Jason Aldean, Gov. Landry, Liz Higginbotham, and the community of Catahoula. May joy, unity, and faith continue to grow in Louisiana and beyond. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
