Faithful in the Little Things

“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones.” — Luke 16:10 (NLT)

Many people dream about doing great things for God. We imagine moments where our faith will be seen and our work will have a big impact. But very often, God begins His work in our lives through small and humble tasks.

When a young believer once asked how he could serve the Lord, he hoped for something meaningful and visible. Instead, he was handed a broom and told to sweep under a tree on the church property. Day after day, leaves would fall and he would sweep them again. What seemed like a small and unnoticed task became a powerful lesson.

God was teaching him faithfulness.

The Lord often prepares us for greater responsibilities by watching how we handle the small ones. When we serve with humility and dedication—even in ordinary moments—we show that our hearts are truly committed to Him.

God sees every act of service, even the ones no one else notices. When we remain faithful in the little things, He shapes our character and prepares us for the greater plans He has ahead.

What This Passage Means to Me

This passage reminds me that faithfulness matters more than recognition. In God’s eyes, no act of service is too small. Whether we are helping someone in need, encouraging a friend, or quietly serving others, those moments matter.

To me, this verse is a reminder that God builds our lives through simple acts of obedience. When we are faithful in small things, we show Him that He can trust us with more.
