OPELOUSAS, La. — A South Louisiana paramedic known for compassion, leadership, and excellence in emergency care is being recognized for her dedication to serving others. Hailey Reviere of Opelousas will be honored as Paramedic of the Year during Acadian Ambulance’s annual Medics of the Year Celebration, recognizing first responders who go above and beyond in caring for their communities.
The ceremony is took place Tuesday morning at the Heymann Performing Arts Center in Lafayette, where paramedics and emergency medical technicians from across Acadian’s four-state service region will gather to celebrate outstanding service and commitment.
Reviere, who has served with Acadian Ambulance since 2018, was selected from among 33 regional honorees representing multiple divisions and service areas. Officials praised her exceptional clinical skills, calm demeanor, leadership, and dedication to evidence-based patient care during emergency situations.
Galatians 6:9 reminds believers, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Many in the emergency medical field say Reviere’s service reflects that same spirit of perseverance and compassion.
A CALLING TO SERVE OTHERS IN TIMES OF CRISIS
Emergency medical responders often meet people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Community leaders say paramedics carry not only medical responsibility but also emotional and spiritual weight as they comfort patients and families during emergencies.
Acadian officials noted that Reviere serves in several leadership roles, including field training officer, critical care transport paramedic, preceptor, and strike team member. Through these positions, she helps mentor and prepare future medics entering the profession.
Supporters say her willingness to train others demonstrates a heart for service and a commitment to strengthening emergency response across the region.
Philippians 2:4 teaches believers to “look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” Many healthcare workers say the work of paramedics reflects that biblical principle by placing the needs of others first, often during life-threatening situations.
Reviere is also a graduate of the National EMS Academy, where she developed the skills that now help save lives and support fellow emergency responders throughout Acadiana.
HONORING FIRST RESPONDERS ACROSS THE REGION
Alongside Reviere, Jinina Wilson from North Louisiana will be recognized as EMT of the Year. Additional regional paramedics and EMTs from Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Tennessee will also receive honors for outstanding service.
Community members say celebrations like this are important reminders of the sacrifices made daily by first responders who work long hours under stressful conditions while remaining committed to protecting others.
Among the honorees are medics serving in specialized divisions including flight medicine, mobile health, critical care transport, and remote emergency response teams.
Romans 12:10 encourages believers to “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.” Organizers say the event is designed to honor those whose work often happens quietly behind the scenes but carries life-changing impact.
A COMMUNITY GRATEFUL FOR THOSE WHO ANSWER THE CALL
Residents throughout Acadiana expressed appreciation for paramedics, EMTs, and emergency personnel who continue responding faithfully to medical emergencies, natural disasters, and critical situations throughout the region.
Leaders say first responders serve as a source of hope and reassurance for communities during moments of uncertainty and fear. Many believe their work reflects Christ-like compassion through acts of service, courage, and sacrifice.
As Hailey Reviere receives this year’s honor, supporters say her example represents the dedication of countless emergency medical workers who continue answering the call to help others every day.
Prayer for the Community
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the paramedics, EMTs, and first responders who faithfully serve their communities with courage and compassion. Protect emergency workers as they serve, strengthen their families, and give them wisdom, peace, and endurance in every situation they face. May their work continue bringing hope and healing to those in need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
