Acadiana High School Expansion Reflects Commitment to Future Generations in Lafayette Parish

A New Chapter for Acadiana High School

CAST NEWS Christian News Network reports that Acadiana High School in Scott, Louisiana, is undergoing a major expansion and renovation project that promises to transform the campus and strengthen educational opportunities for future generations. The investment represents more than bricks and mortar—it reflects a community’s commitment to preparing young people for success while creating a safe and modern learning environment.

Located at 315 Rue de Belier and operating under the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS), Acadiana High School has served the region since 1969, when Judice High School and Scott High School were consolidated. For decades, the school has been recognized throughout Acadiana for academic excellence and competitive athletic programs, producing graduates who have gone on to make meaningful contributions in their communities and professions.

Major Expansion Designed for Growth

The renovation project includes the construction of a new academic addition featuring 38 classrooms, two large student restroom facilities, and two faculty restrooms. Once completed, the new building will allow the school to eliminate all portable “butler” buildings currently in use, returning the campus to a fully brick-and-mortar facility.

School leaders and community members view the project as a significant step toward meeting the needs of a growing student population while enhancing the educational experience for years to come. Scripture reminds believers that preparation and planning are wise investments. Proverbs 24:3 states, “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established.” The expansion reflects that principle by creating a stronger foundation for future generations of students.

Improved Security and Campus Accessibility

In addition to new classroom space, portions of the existing campus will be renovated, including the development of a redesigned main entrance and administrative area. The updated entrance is intended to improve campus security while creating better visitor access and smoother circulation throughout the school grounds.

As schools across the nation continue seeking ways to protect students and staff, these improvements highlight the importance of stewardship and responsibility. Psalm 127:1 teaches, “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.” While faith remains central to many families in Acadiana, practical measures that promote safety and security are also essential components of caring for young people entrusted to the community’s care.

An Investment in the Future of Acadiana

Construction is expected to be completed by July 2027, with students anticipated to occupy the new facilities at the beginning of the 2027–2028 school year. The project represents a significant investment in educational infrastructure for Scott and the greater Lafayette area, ensuring that future generations will have access to modern learning spaces designed to support academic achievement.

Community leaders, parents, educators, and students alike are looking forward to the completion of the project. The expansion stands as a visible reminder that investing in children is an investment in the future. As Jesus taught in Matthew 19:14, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Supporting education and providing opportunities for growth remain important ways communities can nurture and encourage young people.

Prayer for the Community

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the opportunities being created through this expansion at Acadiana High School. We pray for the safety of construction workers, school staff, students, and all who will be impacted by this project. Grant wisdom to school leaders and decision-makers as they oversee the work ahead. Bless the families of Scott and the greater Lafayette area, and may these new facilities become places where students grow in knowledge, character, and purpose. Guide the next generation toward lives of service, integrity, and faith. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
