St. Martin Parish to Shine on National Television, Showcasing Faith, Heritage, and Cajun Hospitality

BREAUX BRIDGE, La. — The rich culture, warm hospitality, and scenic beauty of St. Martin Parish will soon be shared with audiences across the nation as Discovery Channel’s travel series RV There Yet? features the parish in an upcoming episode. The broadcast is expected to highlight the people, traditions, food, and natural treasures that have made the region a beloved destination in the heart of Cajun Country.

Community leaders are celebrating the opportunity to showcase a parish known not only for its cultural heritage but also for the strong sense of community that has been passed down through generations. For many residents, the national spotlight serves as a reminder of the blessings God has entrusted to the area and the importance of sharing those blessings with others.

Exploring the Heart of Cajun Country

Hosts Kevin and Patrice McCabe visited St. Martin Parish earlier this summer, traveling through the region in their RV while discovering the unique experiences that make the parish stand out among Louisiana destinations.

Their journey began in Breaux Bridge with the popular Zydeco Breakfast at Buck & Johnny’s before establishing their home base at Camp Margaritaville RV Resort. From there, the pair spent several days exploring the parish’s natural beauty, history, music, and culinary traditions.

The visit included excursions into the breathtaking Atchafalaya Basin with Atchafalaya Basin Landing, a stop at Cypress Cove Landing featuring local musicians Yvette Landry and Jourdan Thibodeaux, and a firsthand look at the region’s crawfish industry through Team Voodoo Crawfish Tours. Along the way, they experienced local restaurants, Bayou Teche Brewing, and many of the flavors that have helped define Cajun and Creole culture.

Their travels reflect the words of Psalm 24:1, which declares, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” The natural beauty of the Atchafalaya Basin and the abundant resources of South Louisiana serve as reminders of God’s creation and provision.

Celebrating Community and Tradition

One of the highlights of the visit was a special Camp Night hosted by Cajun RV Eats, where Kevin and Patrice learned how to prepare one of Louisiana’s most cherished dishes—gumbo. Guided by local experts, they gained insight into a culinary tradition that brings families and communities together around the table.

Food, music, and fellowship have long been central to life in St. Martin Parish. Whether through a bowl of gumbo, a zydeco tune, or a gathering among friends, these traditions strengthen community bonds and preserve a way of life cherished by generations.

Acts 2:46 speaks of believers gathering together with glad and sincere hearts, sharing meals and fellowship. In many ways, the culture of St. Martin Parish reflects that same spirit of hospitality, generosity, and togetherness.

Sharing a Story with the Nation

Laci Laperouse, Executive Director of St. Martin Parish Tourism, expressed excitement about the opportunity to share the parish with viewers across America.

“Having the RV There Yet? team experience St. Martin Parish was such a fun opportunity for us,” Laperouse said. “There’s nothing we love more than sharing our Cajun and Creole culture, food, music, and our beautiful outdoors with visitors.”

Her comments highlight the parish’s commitment to welcoming guests and preserving the traditions that make the region unique. As visitors discover the area through television, local leaders hope many will be inspired to experience Cajun Country for themselves.

A Light Shining Beyond Louisiana

The upcoming episode offers more than entertainment—it provides an opportunity for the nation to witness the beauty, resilience, and character of a community deeply rooted in faith, family, and heritage.

Jesus taught in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others.” As St. Martin Parish steps into the national spotlight, residents hope viewers will see not only beautiful landscapes and delicious food but also the heart of a community that values hospitality, tradition, and genuine connection.

The Discovery Channel feature serves as a celebration of the people who call St. Martin Parish home and a reminder that the stories of small communities can have a powerful impact far beyond their borders.

Prayer for the Community

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the opportunity for St. Martin Parish to share its culture, history, and hospitality with the nation. Bless the families, business owners, musicians, fishermen, cooks, and community leaders who work to preserve the unique heritage of Cajun Country. May visitors experience kindness, joy, and fellowship when they come to this special place. Continue to protect the natural beauty of the Atchafalaya Basin and the communities that depend upon it. May this national spotlight bring encouragement, opportunity, and unity to the people of St. Martin Parish. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
