BROUSSARD, La. — The city of Broussard is inviting residents, businesses, and families to help preserve the legacy of America’s military veterans through an engraved brick campaign supporting the Broussard Veterans Memorial, currently under construction at the Broussard Sports Complex at St. Julien Park.
The initiative offers community members an opportunity to honor the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces by purchasing memorial bricks that will become a permanent part of the memorial’s walkway. Organizers hope the project will create a lasting tribute to the sacrifices made by service members while reminding future generations of the importance of freedom, courage, and service.
From a Christian perspective, the effort reflects the biblical call to remember those who have sacrificed for others and to demonstrate gratitude through meaningful actions.
A Lasting Tribute to Courage and Sacrifice
Broussard Mayor Ray Bourque emphasized the importance of recognizing veterans and preserving their stories for generations to come.
“Our veterans deserve to be honored and remembered,” Bourque said. “An engraved brick is a small but meaningful way to express our gratitude and ensure that the legacy of those who served continues to be remembered.”
Each engraved brick will contribute to a walkway commemorating members of the military who have served in conflicts around the world. Together, the bricks will form a permanent reminder of the dedication and sacrifices of those who defended the nation.
Scripture offers a powerful reminder about the importance of honoring others. Romans 13:7 instructs believers to give honor to whom honor is due. For Christians, recognizing veterans provides an opportunity to express appreciation for individuals who accepted extraordinary responsibilities in service to their country.
Faith Encourages Gratitude and Remembrance
The memorial project also reflects the biblical principle of remembering the sacrifices and contributions of previous generations. Throughout Scripture, remembrance serves as a way to preserve important lessons and encourage future generations to remain grateful.
In Psalm 78:4, the psalmist speaks of telling the next generation about the works and goodness of God. Similarly, the Broussard Veterans Memorial will offer families an opportunity to share stories of service, sacrifice, and courage with children and grandchildren.
For veterans and their loved ones, the memorial can become a meaningful place to reflect on military service, remember fallen heroes, and recognize the lasting impact of those who answered the call to serve.
The project also provides an opportunity for residents who may not have served in the military to participate in honoring those who did.
Community Donations Will Help Preserve the Memorial
Families and businesses that contribute to the brick campaign may also have their names recognized on a special memorial donation plaque, acknowledging those who helped make the project possible.
Funds raised through the campaign will support the ongoing maintenance of the Broussard Veterans Memorial, helping ensure that the landmark remains a place of remembrance and reflection for years to come.
The campaign highlights how individual contributions can become part of a larger community effort. First Peter 4:10 encourages believers to use their gifts to serve others faithfully. Whether through a donation, a family tribute, or support for the project, community members can help preserve a place dedicated to gratitude and remembrance.
Building a Legacy for Future Generations
As construction continues at St. Julien Park, the memorial represents more than a physical structure. It is an opportunity for Broussard to recognize military service, support veterans and their families, and teach younger generations the importance of honoring those who have sacrificed for others.
CAST NEWS encourages readers to remember veterans not only through monuments and ceremonies but also through everyday acts of kindness, appreciation, and support for those who have served.
PRAYER FOR VETERANS, MILITARY FAMILIES, AND THE BROUSSARD COMMUNITY
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the men and women who have served in our nation’s Armed Forces. We ask You to bless veterans, protect active-duty service members, and comfort families who carry the pain of losing loved ones in military service.
Lord, bring peace to those struggling with the physical and emotional burdens of their service. Strengthen military families, provide for their needs, and surround them with communities that appreciate and support them.
Bless the City of Broussard, its leaders, and everyone contributing to the Veterans Memorial. May this project become a lasting place of remembrance, gratitude, and unity for generations to come.
As Romans 12:10 teaches us to honor one another, help us demonstrate genuine appreciation through our words, prayers, and actions. May we never forget the sacrifices made by others for the well-being of our communities and nation.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
