Timothy Hardy Appointed to Lead Louisiana Community Technical College System

BATON ROUGE, La. – In a significant move for Louisiana’s educational landscape, Governor Jeff Landry has appointed Timothy Hardy, a Shreveport native, to chair the Louisiana Community Technical College System (LCTCS). Announced on Monday, June 10, this appointment positions Hardy to lead a system comprising 12 community colleges, serving over 150,000 students, and producing more than 30,000 graduates annually.

“I am proud to announce the appointment of Timothy Hardy as the chairman of LCTCS,” said Gov. Landry. “Having served as an adjunct professor for more than 25 years, he will bring the leadership and background needed to ensure our community college system graduates folks ready for the workforce. I look forward to the great work he will do for our state.”

Hardy’s Vision and Commitment

Timothy Hardy expressed his enthusiasm for the role, highlighting the transformative impact of the LCTCS. “Changing lives and building our state’s workforce are major impacts of the LCTCS. Background and Experience

Hardy brings a wealth of experience to his new role. As a partner at the Breazeale, Sachse & Wilson law firm in Baton Rouge, his expertise lies in environmental law. He holds an AV Preeminent Rating by Martindale Hubbell and has taught environmental law as an adjunct professor at Southern University Law Center for over 25 years. His extensive public service includes roles such as top advisor for environmental affairs to former Governor Buddy Roemer, assistant secretary for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ), and division director for the Louisiana Department of Justice.

Educational and Professional Accomplishments

Hardy’s academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a juris doctor from the Southern University School of Law. His accolades are numerous, including being named a Distinguished Alumnus by the Southern University Department of Chemistry and the Southern University Law Center, and his induction into the Southern University Law Center Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Sigma Pi Phi fraternity (the Boulé) and the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
