Local Generosity Helps Feed Thousands Through Lafayette Community Fridge Program

LAFAYETTE, La. — In a powerful display of generosity and community partnership, a worldwide catering and hospitality company has stepped forward to support efforts to combat food insecurity in Acadiana. Taylor International donated three pallets of Styrofoam food containers to Lafayette’s Community Fridge project on Sept. 3, providing much-needed supplies that will help volunteers continue serving individuals and families facing hunger throughout the region.

The donation reflects a growing movement of compassion in Lafayette, where businesses, nonprofits, churches, and volunteers are working together to ensure that no neighbor is forgotten. As Scripture reminds believers in Galatians 6:2, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” The Community Fridge project is a living example of that biblical principle in action.

According to Kirt Templet with Taylor International, the company has a history of supporting efforts that provide food and resources to those experiencing hardship. The donated containers will help volunteers package and distribute meals more efficiently to individuals in need across the area.

“As we’ve done in the past, we’re donating some food plates and cutlery to help feed some of the people that have food insecurities in this area,” Templet said.

The practical gift may seem simple, but for volunteers serving meals every day, supplies such as containers are essential tools in their mission. By helping with the logistics of food distribution, the donation allows community leaders to focus on reaching more people and ensuring that food gets where it is needed most.

Since its launch in 2025, Acadiana’s Community Fridge program has helped feed approximately 10,000 people. The project operates with a simple but impactful vision: provide accessible food resources for anyone in need, no questions asked.
