Recent studies confirm what many have believed—that God’s creation holds powerful healing properties. Three studies published in 2013 highlight the effectiveness of saw palmetto extract, combined with lycopene and selenium, in treating symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as enlarged prostate. This natural combination has shown to reduce inflammation and improve urinary symptoms, reflecting Psalm 107:20, “He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.” Truly, God’s healing wisdom is evident in the plants He has given us.
Scientific Evidence Supports Natural Healing
Research from Italy’s University of Catania involving 168 patients showed that those taking saw palmetto, selenium, and lycopene experienced significant reductions in prostate inflammation and a lowered risk of prostate cancer over three to six months. Similarly, a study from the University of Queensland in Australia found men who took a herbal formula including saw palmetto and lycopene reported a 36% improvement in BPH symptoms compared to only 8% in the placebo group. The study also noted reduced frequency of daytime and nighttime urination, offering much-needed relief to many men. Long-term benefits were affirmed by a Russian study showing no progression of prostate enlargement after 10 years of daily saw palmetto supplementation.
Honoring God by Caring for Our Bodies
As believers, we are reminded to honor God by caring for our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). These findings encourage us to seek God’s healing through natural means He has provided, embracing both faith and science. This holistic approach to health enables us to live strong and serve God fully.
