Hope That Unites Us

“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God… May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:7–13 (NIV)

Paul reminds us here that unity and acceptance aren’t just nice ideas — they are acts of worship. When we choose to welcome others, even those different from us, we reflect the heart of Christ. He accepted us not because we were perfect, but because His love is.

Life often gives us reasons to pull away from people — misunderstandings, hurt, or simple differences. Yet God calls us to build bridges, not walls. Our unity brings glory to Him and gives the world a glimpse of His grace in action.

Paul closes this passage with a prayer: that we would overflow with hope, joy, and peace as we trust God. This kind of hope doesn’t come from circumstances; it comes from the Holy Spirit working in us.

Today, let Christ’s acceptance of you inspire how you treat others. Offer grace where it’s hard, welcome where it’s uncomfortable, and trust that as you do, the God of hope will fill your heart — and your relationships — with peace.
