Six Acadiana Schools Selected for BizTown Pilot Program

Preparing the Next Generation
Six schools in Acadiana have been chosen to participate in Junior Achievement’s BizTown program, giving students hands-on opportunities to learn about business, finances, and community leadership. Designed for elementary and middle school students, BizTown combines classroom learning with real-world scenarios, helping children understand how their skills can shape their future. As Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Building Dreams Through Education
Kimberly Lemire, Head of Schools at Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy, emphasized the program’s popularity: “We’ve already signed up for the waiting list, first and foremost.” Junior Achievement leaders expressed their hope that students will grow into confident dreamers and entrepreneurs. “We really love our students, and we want to encourage them to become entrepreneurs, to follow their dreams,” said Development Director Reagan Robicheaux. This reflects Jeremiah 29:11, where God declares, “For I know the plans I have for you…plans to give you hope and a future.”

Shaping Future Leaders for Acadiana
Junior Achievement President Paula Dawson explained the importance of preparing students with soft skills and leadership training: “They are the future of Acadiana, and we want to make sure this city is ready.” With the Acadiana mobile BizTown unit now the seventh of its kind in the nation, the program will continue to expand its reach. Volunteers play a key role, mentoring students and encouraging them to grow. As Matthew 5:16 teaches, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Prayer for the Students of Acadiana
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the opportunity to prepare young minds for their future. Bless the students, teachers, and volunteers who make programs like BizTown possible. May these children grow into leaders who honor You with their gifts and serve their communities with wisdom and courage. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
