From Foster Care to Faithful Service: How Nicole Stewart Turned Pain into Purpose

A Journey from Brokenness to Blessing
Nicole Stewart’s story begins in the Franklin Field Housing Development of Boston, where hardship and heartache marked her early years. Thrust into the foster care system at just three years old, Stewart endured years of instability and trauma—six different homes, violence, and deep despair. Yet through it all, God was preparing her for a mission far greater than she could imagine. As Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” Today, that little girl from Franklin Field stands as the Executive Director of Boston CASA, helping transform the lives of foster youth just like she once was.

The Power of One Caring Heart
Stewart often credits her foster mother, the only woman she calls “Mom,” for showing her the meaning of love, stability, and faith. Through her mother’s guidance, she learned the value of education and compassion—lessons that paved the way for two master’s degrees and a lifelong mission of service. Boston CASA, under Stewart’s leadership, equips volunteers—Court Appointed Special Advocates—to stand beside children in the foster care system who might otherwise feel forgotten. Just as Proverbs 22:6 teaches, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

A Calling Rooted in Hope
Through stories of transformed lives, Stewart continues to prove that love and consistency can rebuild trust and restore futures. Her faith in God fuels her work, turning past pain into a testimony of redemption. “I think God meets everyone where they’re at,” she says—a truth echoed in Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Prayer for the Community:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the life and example of Nicole Stewart and all those who serve vulnerable children. Bless every foster child with hope, every CASA volunteer with strength, and every hurting heart with healing. Let Your love transform pain into purpose and despair into destiny. In Jesus’ name, amen.
