“The Gospel According to Scrooge”: A Christmas Story of Redemption and Grace

A Timeless Story with an Eternal Message
LAFAYETTE, La. — This Christmas season, First Baptist Church of Lafayette presents “The Gospel According to Scrooge”, a stirring musical retelling of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol infused with the life-changing message of the Gospel. With showings on December 5–8, 2025, the production invites audiences to experience the transforming power of Christ’s love through the story of Ebenezer Scrooge—a man who moves from darkness and despair to redemption and joy.

As 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” The story of Scrooge reflects this profound truth, showing that no heart is too hardened for God’s grace to renew.

Music, Message, and the Miracle of Change
This powerful presentation combines music, drama, and Scripture to share the hope of salvation in a creative and engaging way. Through the eyes of Scrooge, audiences are reminded of the emptiness of earthly riches and the eternal value of compassion and faith. The production not only celebrates the birth of Christ but also reflects His ability to heal broken hearts and restore lives. As Ezekiel 36:26 declares, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.”

A Community United in the Spirit of Christmas
With four performances scheduled, “The Gospel According to Scrooge” offers families and individuals the opportunity to reflect on God’s mercy and love during this holy season. It stands as a beacon of light in a busy world—reminding us that Christmas is about renewal, forgiveness, and the miracle of salvation through Jesus Christ.

A Prayer for the Community
Heavenly Father, thank You for the message of redemption shared through The Gospel According to Scrooge. May all who attend be touched by Your Spirit, turning their hearts toward generosity, compassion, and faith in Christ. Let Your light shine through this story, inspiring hope and transformation in our community. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
