Acadiana High School Football Teams Persevere Through Faith in Playoff Season

Thanksgiving Week: A Test of Faith and Dedication

LAFAYETTE, La. — For high school football players, practicing during Thanksgiving week is more than just dedication—it is a symbol of perseverance and commitment. This holiday season, a dozen Acadiana area teams remain alive in the 2025 LHSAA Football Playoffs, proving that hard work, discipline, and teamwork continue to bear fruit even in the midst of challenges.

As Galatians 6:9 reminds us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” These student-athletes embody this scripture as they push through long practices and high-stakes games in pursuit of excellence on the field.

Quarterfinals: One Step Closer to the Superdome

The quarterfinal round is set across eight divisions, with the winners advancing to the semifinals and one step closer to the 2025 LHSAA Football Prep Classic at the Caesars Superdome. For Acadiana teams, the road is both challenging and exciting, showcasing the region’s rich tradition of competitive football.

In the Division III Select bracket, Lafayette Christian will host defending state champions Catholic New Iberia, while second-seeded Notre Dame faces Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy. Faith and preparation remain central for these players, who trust in God’s guidance as they face familiar rivals.

Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Players, coaches, and fans alike are leaning on God for strength, wisdom, and courage in these critical matchups.

Acadiana Teams in Action Across Divisions

Across the non-select divisions, several Acadiana schools are poised to compete with determination: Plaquemine, Belle Chasse, West Feliciana, and Lutcher are among those representing the region. From Division I to Division IV, student-athletes are demonstrating grit and unity, reflecting the power of teamwork, accountability, and sportsmanship rooted in Christian values.

As 1 Corinthians 9:24 reminds us, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” Each team is running their race with focus, discipline, and faith in God’s plan, understanding that effort and character matter as much as victory.

Faith, Community, and the Love of the Game

High school football in Acadiana is more than a sport—it is a ministry of influence. Coaches, families, and teammates encourage one another on and off the field, fostering a community built on respect, perseverance, and faith. Whether celebrating triumphs or learning from setbacks, these young athletes reflect the teachings of Colossians 3:23: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

A Prayer for Players, Coaches, and Families

Heavenly Father, we lift up all the student-athletes, coaches, and families participating in the 2025 LHSAA Football Playoffs. Grant them strength, focus, and safety on the field. May their efforts honor You, and may they demonstrate integrity, teamwork, and perseverance in every play. Bless their communities and families, and let this season inspire faith, unity, and joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
