LAFAYETTE, La. — As the sounds of culture, music, and celebration prepare to return to downtown Lafayette this spring, organizers of Festival International de Louisiane have unveiled the official artwork commemorating a major milestone: the festival’s 40th anniversary. The announcement was made during the annual Premiere Party, where community members gathered to celebrate the unveiling of the 2026 official poster, pin, and visual theme.
A Milestone Celebration Through Art
Festival organizers announced that acclaimed Louisiana artist Francis Pavy has been selected as the 2026 Official Visual Artist. Known for his vibrant and expressive work inspired by Louisiana culture, Pavy created an original piece capturing the spirit of the festival and the diversity that has defined it for four decades.
“It’s a great privilege to be chosen as the artist for the 40th year of Festival International,” Pavy said during the unveiling. “This festival is one of the heartbeats of our community, and capturing that vibrant multicultural energy for such a historic anniversary is deeply humbling.”
For many residents of Lafayette and Acadiana, the festival represents more than entertainment—it reflects unity, heritage, and shared identity. Scripture reminds believers of the beauty found in diversity and community: “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude… from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb” (Revelation 7:9). In many ways, the festival mirrors that biblical vision of people from different cultures coming together in harmony.
Family Collaboration and Creative Vision
Festival leaders also highlighted the collaborative effort behind the final design. Pavy’s daughter, Annabelle Pavy, joined the project as the graphic designer responsible for translating the painting into the official poster and collectible pin.
Carly Viator Courville, marketing director for Festival International, said the collaboration elevated the project to something special for the anniversary celebration.
“Festival International is proud and excited for this milestone year,” Courville said. “We set a high bar across the board, and bringing in the Pavy family allowed this artwork to become something truly meaningful. Francis created a stunning piece, and Annabelle helped transform it into the poster and pin that will represent this historic year.”
These collectible items are more than souvenirs. Sales of the poster and pin help support the nonprofit festival and ensure the continuation of a cultural tradition that has blessed the region for generations.
The Bible encourages believers to use creativity and craftsmanship for the glory of God and the blessing of community. “He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work… artistic designs” (Exodus 35:35). Through art, culture, and shared celebration, many see God’s creative fingerprint reflected in human expression.
Looking Ahead to the 40th Festival
The 40th anniversary of Festival International de Louisiane is scheduled for April 22–26 in downtown Lafayette. Organizers expect thousands of visitors from across the region and beyond to attend the free event, which showcases international music, local cuisine, and cultural exchange.
For many in Acadiana, the festival also serves as a reminder of the power of community and hospitality. Scripture teaches believers to welcome others and celebrate unity: “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality” (Romans 12:13).
As preparations continue for the historic celebration, organizers hope the artwork will serve as a symbol of the joy, culture, and unity that have made the festival a beloved tradition for forty years.
Prayer for the Community
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of culture, creativity, and community. As Lafayette prepares to celebrate this milestone festival, we pray for unity, safety, and joy for all who gather. Bless the artists, organizers, volunteers, and visitors who make this celebration possible. May events like this remind us of the beauty of Your diverse creation and the importance of loving one another as neighbors. Protect the community and let this gathering be filled with peace, fellowship, and gratitude. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
