Carencro continues to earn recognition across Louisiana as the state’s fastest-growing city, holding that distinction for five consecutive years. According to U.S. Census Bureau data, the city experienced an impressive 43.2% population increase between April 2020 and July 2025, making it the fastest-growing municipality in Louisiana during that period.
For Mayor Charlotte Clavier, the growth is a reflection of what local residents have known for years—a strong community, a thriving business environment, and a city that offers families an exceptional place to live.
“I’m proud,” Clavier said. “I just think Carencro is a great place, and I think it’s something I’ve always known. It’s just nice to see other people have finally started to recognize what we’ve always known.”
As new residents continue arriving, city leaders are focused on ensuring that growth remains sustainable while preserving the unique character that has made Carencro a beloved community for generations.
Economic Growth Fuels Opportunity
City leaders attribute much of Carencro’s success to a healthy blend of long-established local businesses and new commercial investments. Family-owned businesses that have served the community for decades continue to thrive alongside national companies and new enterprises choosing to invest in the city.
Mayor Clavier noted that both longtime businesses and newcomers have contributed significantly to Carencro’s momentum.

Proverbs 14:23 reminds believers, “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” The continued success of Carencro’s business community reflects the value of diligence, perseverance, and responsible stewardship.

Housing development has played a major role in Carencro’s growth story. Data from Point2Homes.com indicates that more than 500 homes have been built since 2020, representing a significant increase in residential construction.
Mayor Clavier said approximately 1,500 residential lots have remained in active development throughout her tenure, demonstrating consistent demand for housing in the area.
The growth has brought new families, new friendships, and new opportunities for community engagement. While population increases can create challenges, they also provide opportunities for churches, schools, businesses, and civic organizations to expand their outreach and impact.

This sense of unity reflects Psalm 133:1, which says, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity.” While growth may bring change, community leaders remain committed to preserving the relationships and values that have long defined Carencro.
