Teaching Legend Returns to Northside High

CAST NEWS is thrilled to announce the return of Frances Shaw, a cherished educator who is rejoining Northside High School in Lafayette. At 80 years old, Shaw is returning to her old stomping grounds with a renewed passion for teaching and a desire to inspire the next generation. Her return marks a significant moment for the school community, which eagerly anticipates the wisdom and experience she brings.

A Storied Career Comes Full Circle

Frances Shaw’s teaching career at Northside High began in 1972 and continued until 2012, during which she left an indelible mark on countless students. After spending some time at St. Martin Parish, Shaw has returned to Northside, a place she considers “home.” As she reflects on her journey, she echoes Psalm 37:4, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Shaw’s return to Northside is a testament to her enduring love for teaching and her commitment to her students.

A New Chapter in Education

Shaw’s decision to return to Northside High was driven by her longing to be back in a familiar environment. Despite exploring other pursuits like gardening, she felt a call back to the classroom when she learned of opportunities at local schools. “I had like four other offers, and when Northside’s offer came in, it was like, that was a done deal,” Shaw said. This sense of purpose aligns with Proverbs 16:3, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans,” reflecting Shaw’s faith and dedication to her calling.

Welcoming a Legend Back to the Classroom

The Northside community eagerly awaits the start of the school year, ready to honor Shaw’s legacy. The Viking Wall of Fame, though currently empty, will soon reflect the contributions of remarkable individuals like Frances Shaw.
