The long-awaited rehabilitation project on Evangeline Thruway is nearing its end, bringing much-needed relief to local drivers. The $21 million project, which commenced last summer, has focused on improving the road’s surface and accessibility.
A Significant Improvement The project has encompassed two primary sections: the stretch from the railroad junction to Pinhook and a portion of U.S. 90 between LA 92 and LA 88. Drivers who have recently traversed these routes have likely noticed a significant improvement in the road’s condition.
Enhanced Accessibility In addition to the surface repairs, the project has prioritized accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Crews are diligently working to construct ADA-compliant ramps at intersections, ensuring that everyone can navigate the area safely and independently.
A Step Toward a Brighter Future While the rehabilitation project represents a substantial step forward, it’s important to note that it’s a temporary solution. The ultimate goal is to completely rebuild Evangeline Thruway as part of the Lafayette Connector Project. However, until that ambitious vision becomes a reality, these interim improvements will undoubtedly enhance the driving experience for local residents and visitors alike.
A Prayer for Our Community As we anticipate the completion of this project, let us offer a prayer of gratitude for the hard work and dedication of the construction crews. May God bless them with safety and strength as they continue their efforts. We also pray for the patience and understanding of all drivers as they navigate the construction zones. May God guide us all as we journey through life, and may His grace and mercy be upon us.
