SUNSET FARM NAMED FINALIST FOR PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL AWARD
SUNSET, La. — A Louisiana family-owned horse farm is receiving national recognition for nearly two decades of dedication, stewardship, and excellence in Thoroughbred breeding. Coteau Grove Farms, located in Sunset, has been named a finalist for the 2026 Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) National Breeder of the Year Award, placing the Louisiana operation among some of the most respected names in the horse racing industry.
Founded in 2008 by Keith and Ginger Myers, Coteau Grove Farms began with a vision to build a breeding program capable of competing on a national level. Eighteen years later, that vision has become reality. The 478-acre operation has produced numerous successful racehorses, including Grade 1 winner No Parole, millionaire Touchuponastar, Grade 3 winner Tumbarumba, and Grade 2 winner Margie’s Intention.
The recognition is a testament to years of hard work, patience, and a commitment to excellence. PARTNERSHIP ADVANCES EQUINE HEALTH AND HEALING
In addition to breeding champion racehorses, Coteau Grove Farms has become a key partner in advancing equine regenerative medicine through its collaboration with Equine Performance Labs (EPL).
Founded in 2022, EPL focuses on developing regenerative products designed to help horses recover from injuries affecting joints, tendons, and ligaments. Through an exclusive partnership, tissue collected from full-term foal deliveries at Coteau Grove Farms is used in the development of equicenta® CTM, a cryopreserved allograft product intended to support equine healing and rehabilitation.
Research has shown promising results. Studies conducted in recent years found consistent biological properties in the collected tissue and reported improvements in lameness, pain, and swelling among performance horses receiving treatment.
Heather Rogers, CEO of Equine Performance Labs, noted that consistency begins with the quality of care provided to the mares and foals at Coteau Grove Farms. That commitment to excellence has helped support advancements that may benefit horses far beyond Louisiana.
